Vittorio Emanuele III, who wanted to instill a sense of hope to push Italy out of economic crises, is depicted on the front of the coin. The obverse depicts a bee collecting nectar from a flower, an image inspired by ancient greek coins from Ephesis. The bee, a symbol of determination and hard work.
